East Texas Counseling Group: The Practice

The East Texas Counseling Group (ETCG) operates under the direction of Dr. Melanie Roudkovski, LPC-S. The purpose of the ETCG is to provide counseling services and primary care mental health services in East Texas and positively impact the mental health and wellness of individuals and families within the community. East Texas Counseling Group consists of independently contracted counselors and an independently contracted physician invited into the practice based on shared Christian values, shared and/or similar theoretical approaches to helping, and a commitment to and passion for excellence in providing mental health services.

Meet The Team


Dr. Melanie Roudkovski, LPC-S

Dr. Roudkovski is a native of Louisiana and grew up not far from the East Texas community she calls home. She received her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, then attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where she earned an M.A. in Marriage & Family Counseling, a Master of Theology, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. For over 20 years, Melanie has provided clinical and relational help to individuals of all ages, and she enjoys helping couples and families navigate their unique challenges. Melanie is married and has two teenage children, and she loves spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys singing around the community, primarily with her church praise band. Dr. Roudkovski is also a professor of graduate counseling and she is passionate about training the next generation of professional counselors, in the classroom and as a board-approved supervisor in Texas. With a background in higher education and administration, she enjoys providing leadership training, speaking at conferences, and helping businesses and leaders maximize resources and people.

Megan Korthals, LPC

Megan is originally from Austin, TX and moved to Longview after marrying her husband in 2011. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. She holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from Samford University and a Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy from LeTourneau University. She is a trauma informed therapist, who is trained in EMDR therapy, and is a TBRI® Practitioner.

Megan works with a variety of clients, to include individuals, couples, and families. Her therapeutic approach is client-centered, and she frequently utilizes alternative, evidence-based interventions that target both the “thinking” centers of the brain, as well as the “emotional” centers of the brain for a holistic treatment approach. She believes that, while current and past life experiences have a significant impact on physical, emotional, and relational health, true hope and healing is possible through connection, healthy relationships, and experiential knowledge.

Katie Monts, LPC-Associate

Katie has enjoyed the experience of living on both coasts, but she is proud to be an East Texas native now returned. Katie holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at Tyler and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from LeTourneau University. Katie is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and works with a diverse clientele, starting at age 14 extending through the adult lifespan. As life often takes unexpected turns through alternate routes, loss, or new opportunities there are inevitably mental, physical, and social implications. Katie’s approach to counseling is to engage clients in a values-based and goal-oriented fashion to help them navigate these transitions depending on their individual experiences and worldview. Katie also offers clinical, career, and grief counseling.
Outside of the counseling office, Katie and her family enjoy time adventuring around East Texas to the various lakes, hiking trails, parks, and campgrounds. Katie loves teaching and building relationships in the community, and she hopes to continue to work in the Longview area to promote health and life wellness for all.

Chelle Brown, LPC-Associate

Rochelle Brown, better known as Chelle, is a Louisiana native that now calls East Texas home. Chelle received her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, then attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where she earned a M.A. in Christian Education with an emphasis in Social Work. She leveraged her education and experience by working with non-profit organizations that focused on education, family, and children’s issues for over 15 years. Later Chelle earned her M.A. in Counseling from LeTourneau University.

Chelle’s experiences provide a unique platform for clinical and relational care. She provides care to those of all ages and has a special interest in helping individuals, couples, and families find hope, purpose, healing and restoration. She believes that self-awareness, freedom, and responsibility create an authentic life full of meaning. Chelle draws from several therapeutic modalities to create treatment options that value the client’s uniqueness and individuality. She is a member of the American Counseling Association and Psi Chi International Honor Society.

Chelle is married and has two children. She enjoys traveling and hosting family and friends for gatherings.

David Miller, Graduate Intern

David earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, in 2019. Following completion of his undergraduate degree, David began working toward his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at LeTourneau University. His anticipated graduation date is August of 2021, at which time he will pursue credentialing as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. For the last year, David has worked serving adolescents, young adults, and engaged and married couples as a graduate counseling intern. As a Veteran, David has a heart for those who have experienced crisis or trauma. For the past 2 years, David has worked with a non-profit organization called Operation True North (OTN), where he provides counseling services for Veterans and their families experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). David feels strongly that God has called him to the counseling profession and enjoys using his gifts in the service of others. In his free time, David enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He enjoys exercising, hiking, golfing, engaging with the Veteran community, and working with the youth in his community.

Carly Rowan, Graduate Intern

Carly earned a Bachelor of Arts from Tabor College 2016. She is currently completing her degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at LeTourneau University and will graduate in August of 2021. Carly has experience working with diverse populations including children with disabilities. She enjoys helping individuals, couples, and families with a range of clinical and relational issues. Her primary expertise involves counseling children and adolescents, especially those struggling with anxiety and depression. She enjoys volunteering with the youth ministry at her local church. Carly played soccer for Tabor College as an undergraduate student, and she continues to enjoy staying active outdoors. She also enjoys reading in her free time. Carly is looking forward to pursuing her credentialing as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas following her graduation. She is also a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA).

Dr. Cori Skarda, MD

Dr. Cori Skarda is a Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician who is currently limiting her practice to Mental Health Care.  She earned her MD at University of New Mexico School of Medicine and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at University of Texas at San Antonio.

Dr. Skarda is experienced in evaluating for underlying medical conditions that may contribute to mental health disorders.  She treats  anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, alcohol use disorder as well as other common mental health issues seen in the primary care setting.

Dr. Skarda is married, has two teenage children, enjoys yard work, sunshine, singing with her church, and spending time with family and friends.
